The snow chunks around the speeder are all made individually and placed (that was a lot of work!). Additional snow details were added to the speeder. The ‘windows’ are made of a Compact Disc (CD) case cover, cut out, then scratched and damaged for the scene. The windows of the speeder have been ‘damage’ to closely match the full sized speeder crash. The cockpit also includes a slumped over ‘Dak’ tailgunner, and some custom seatbelts and other scratch details. The Speeder is the old AMT model kit, as it’s accurately in scale, but I added a scratch built Luke out of a 1/24 BF-109e pilot figure. The ‘cockpit’ has been lit using LEDs and even an outline of the 3 ‘pilots’ in silhouette.įor the snow effects, I’m using the amazing AK ‘Terrains Snow’ and ‘Snow Micro balloons’, on top of a hand crafted plaster of paris snow base, coated with an acrylic primer (Kilz). The AT-AT model is base painted with a gray primer, then weathered using a variety of oils and chalk pastels. I’m building, painting and customizing this to be set up as a diorama of the moment before the AT-AT steps over Luke Skywalker’s crashed Speeder. This is a highly detailed AT-AT replica standing over 3′ tall, mastered by Mike Salzo of MSLZ22 Models.
